Your Opportunity:

As a Physiotherapy Practitioner I within Alberta Health Services, you will engage in a community-focused role, balancing your responsibilities between Home Care and Supportive Living service streams. Effective communication and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team regarding your clients across various service areas will be essential. You will receive guidance from the Allied Health Area Manager and Physiotherapy Professional Practice Lead, with opportunities to network with professionals in adjacent areas. Additionally, you will offer clinical oversight to a Therapy Assistant and may occasionally facilitate clinical placements for Physiotherapy or Therapy Assistant students. This position may also be eligible for a recruitment incentive.

Role Overview:

In your capacity as the Physiotherapy Practitioner I (PT), you will deliver therapeutic interventions aimed at helping clients attain optimal physical function and independence in the face of development, disease, disability, chronic conditions, illness, and functional decline. Your interventions will encompass prevention, triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, goal setting, treatment, management, education, consultation, fostering resourcefulness, case management, referral, and transition support for individuals, groups, populations, and communities. You will actively involve clients and their families as key members of the healthcare team, promoting their engagement in all facets of care. The PT will work collaboratively with patients and families to determine, implement, and assess suitable rehabilitation strategies.

You will participate in diverse interprofessional teams to enhance awareness, enrich support systems, and engage in quality improvement initiatives; partnering with healthcare providers, patients, families, and other stakeholders to elevate services for clients. Your contributions will extend to quality improvement efforts and professional community engagement, including peer mentoring and student supervision. You may also provide clinical oversight to Therapy Assistants, Therapy Aides, and Provisional Physiotherapists.

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited university program is required. Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Alberta is essential.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Eligibility for membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association is required. Certification in BCLS-HCP from Heart & Stroke is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current AADL Authorizer status is preferred.
