Job Summary:

The Canadian Red Cross is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Finance and Administration to join our team. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial management and administration of our Quebec geography.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Adapt financial management and reporting practices to align with organizational requirements, assess and adjust processes to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness, and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Staff Management: Recruit, manage, and provide leadership to employees, provide coaching and feedback, and address and resolve conflict and/or performance issues.
  • Financial Planning and Development: Participate in operational planning, develop annual and three-year budgets, and prepare monthly financial forecasts.
  • Administration: Ensure management and administration of facilities, oversee and guide work performed by the administration team, and provide efficient support services to meet the geography's operational needs.
  • Occupational Health & Safety: Participate and promote completion of mandatory health and safety training, promote respectful communication, and know and follow health, safety, and quality assurance policies and procedures.

Requirements:

  • A university degree in Finance, Business, or a related field and a professional accounting designation (CPA).
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of experience managing a team in a unionized environment is an asset.
  • Relevant philanthropic and non-for-profit experience.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of accounting theory, techniques, and policies.
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills in French and English.
  • Proficient in using MS Office applications.
  • Professionalism and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Superior organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to problem solve and think outside the box.

Working Conditions:

  • This hybrid position is based in Montréal.
  • In-office attendance may be required, based on job requirements.
  • Non-traditional hours will be required to perform on-call duty, as well as during emergency responses and deployments.
  • The majority of the work will be performed in an office environment.
