Position Overview

The Financial Planning and Analysis Specialist plays a crucial role within the Financial Services department. This position involves a contract role focused on delivering high-quality financial insights and strategic guidance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive forecasting, accounting, and analytical tasks with a strong emphasis on confidentiality and precision.
  • Oversee the management and development of the University's budget system, ensuring accurate preparation and maintenance of budget documents.
  • Lead the preparation of annual and quarterly budgets, providing critical analysis to assist Budget Owners in resource management.
  • Offer financial analysis to support collective bargaining processes and provide technical expertise on various financial matters.
  • Manage and generate reports from diverse systems to facilitate account and budget analysis, enhancing financial decision-making.
  • Guide the implementation and maintenance of a new budget and forecast reporting system, ensuring effective use of tools like Tableau.
  • Monitor account reconciliations and provide insightful recommendations based on financial data analysis.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (BBA/BCom) and have a minimum of three years of related experience in accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting. Experience in fund accounting and financial control is preferred. Progress towards obtaining a CPA designation is considered an asset.
