Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Field Service Specialist to join our team in Ottawa. As a Field Service Specialist, you will be responsible for providing exceptional service to our customers, ensuring their equipment is functioning properly and resolving any technical issues that may arise.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair designated products within an assigned service territory, including preventative maintenance, installations, and upgrades.
  • Schedule, create, verify, and modify customer visits as appropriate, assessing customers' needs and financial impact to the practice.
  • Complete and submit daily field service reports according to written procedures.
  • Complete and submit weekly expense reports according to company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain spare parts inventory and service tool calibration according to company guidelines.
  • Interface with customers in a professional, pleasant, and calm demeanor.
  • Maintain effective territory management and expense control.
  • May assist in training and mentoring new hires.
  • Develop strong relationships with key customers.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years of previous field service experience or relevant experience in Electronics, Fine Mechanics, or Optics.
  • BS in Electronics, Industrial Mechanics, or related fields preferred.
  • Theoretical understanding of basic electromechanical, electronic, and optical systems.
  • Basic understanding of troubleshooting techniques and approaches.
  • Must have very good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have strong computer skills with the ability to obtain specific certifications as required.
  • Must be self-directed, able to work independently with limited management oversight.
  • Multiple project and time management skills are required.
  • Experience with several Carl Zeiss Meditec product lines.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of schematics and complex technical data.
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of ophthalmic anatomy and diseases of the eye.
  • Bilingual French required.
