Position Overview:
As part of our highway engineering division, you will play a crucial role in executing a variety of Ministry of Transportation (MTO) design initiatives, including highway enhancements and bridge refurbishments. This position will emphasize the technical delivery of projects, particularly through the use of InRoads/OpenRoads software. We seek an individual who thrives on overcoming technical challenges and is keen to stay abreast of technological advancements.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
- A degree in Civil Engineering.
- Licensed as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or eligible for licensure within one year.
- Proven experience working with the MTO.
- Background in highway engineering, with familiarity in the consulting engineering sector.
- Understanding of highway engineering principles, including relevant policies and operational guidelines.
- Demonstrated expertise in detailed design work with a strong design portfolio.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, creative problem-solving abilities, and analytical thinking.
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle with appropriate registration and insurance.
- 4 to 7 years of relevant experience in highway design, particularly with MTO projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as a highway engineer for MTO preliminary and detailed design transportation projects.
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff involved in your projects.
- Develop designs for various highway facilities, including freeways, urban and rural multi-lane and two-lane roads, interchanges, and intersections.
- Prepare technical documentation, contract materials, design schematics, quantity assessments, and cost projections.
- Generate plans, profiles, and design quantities using Civil 3D/InRoads/Open Roads Design formats.
- Conduct initial site assessments and fieldwork for design projects.
- Maintain positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Stay updated on the latest design tools and software in collaboration with senior CAD personnel.
