Position Overview

Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking a dedicated Rehabilitation Support Specialist to enhance the Long Term Care team.

This position involves working collaboratively within a supportive environment, contributing to the well-being of patients through established rehabilitative practices.

We are committed to fostering a nurturing atmosphere where compassionate professionals can thrive and make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

The work setting is designed to promote a serene and productive atmosphere, enriched by natural surroundings and inspiring architecture.

Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with occupational therapists and physiotherapists to implement prescribed rehabilitative activities. Assist with various tasks including: executing lower-risk interventions aligned with clinical OT/PT care plans, demonstrating therapeutic activities, modifying equipment to enhance patient independence, guiding patients and their families in functional tasks, supporting the practice of daily living skills. Document and report observations regarding patient progress and behaviors. Supervise volunteers, manage equipment and supplies for activities, and maintain inventory.

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

Completion of a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant Program or a relevant combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills & Competencies

Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written. Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration. Physical capability to fulfill the duties of the role. Organizational skills to manage workload efficiently. Competence in operating related therapeutic equipment.

Additional Information

Work hours, including days off and work area, may vary based on operational needs and collective agreements. Successful candidates may be required to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
