POSITION SUMMARY

We are seeking a proficient Transportation/Transit Utility Estimator to become a vital part of our team at Black & McDonald Limited. The successful candidate will be tasked with generating electrical take-offs and cost estimates for various transportation projects. This role involves providing essential technical support for project execution, with a focus on electrical estimating, reporting, progress tracking, planning, scheduling, and managing project modifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting electrical and civil work take-offs and estimates for transportation and transit initiatives.
  • Calculating costs associated with materials, labor, and equipment based on project drawings and specifications.
  • Establishing cost monitoring systems and protocols.
  • Collaborating with suppliers, subcontractors, and project owners to coordinate pricing packages.
  • Engaging in meetings and site assessments as required.
  • Maintaining an updated directory of suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Facilitating communication with engineers, owners, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Updating the Bid2Win database for accurate tracking.
  • Formulating construction schedules and methodologies.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong communication abilities.

  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Respectful and professional demeanor.
  • Degree or Diploma in Electrical or Civil Engineering, Construction fundamentals diploma, or relevant electrical trades background.
  • 3-5+ years of estimating experience in transportation and transit projects.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Bid2Win software.
