Job Overview

The selected candidate will provide essential process insights to enhance plant efficiency, optimize operational scenarios, implement modifications, troubleshoot complex issues, and conduct engineering studies aimed at reducing operational costs for various units and facilities. We are seeking a skilled PBR (Poly Butadiene Rubber) process engineer to contribute to the improvement of plant operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate unit operations and recommend corrective measures to address process challenges.
  • Generate monthly performance reports for relevant units utilizing tools such as APAC, Ex-aquantum, DCS trends, PRO II, Uniformance, DYNAMO, etc.
  • Propose enhancements for process control methodologies.
  • Review and analyze the overall efficiency of plants and equipment, including compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, and distillation columns.
  • Identify inefficiencies and suggest actionable improvements.
  • Provide necessary assistance to operations personnel during shutdowns, startups, complex troubleshooting, and critical situations.
  • Ensure the integrity of plant processes through a clearly defined operational framework and vigilant monitoring of key process parameters.
  • Contribute to Process Safety by tracking Process Safety Performance Indicators (PSPI) and recommending enhancements.
  • Support the application of industry standards and guidelines (EIGA, API, etc.).
  • Participate in Alarm Management and MOC review committees.
  • Engage in and/or lead Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) for revalidations and projects.
  • Act as an administrator for SHE elements or serve on sub-element committees.
  • Prepare analytical reports and/or process specifications for proposed plant modifications, projects, and technical initiatives.
  • Assist in defining and executing Capital projects by providing input for conceptual design packages, technical contributions to 'Invitation to Bid', and support during project execution.
  • Offer technical assistance for investigations and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) efforts.
  • Employ reliability methodologies (RCM, RBI, RIS, ACA).
  • Facilitate communication with Licensors, Suppliers, Technology and Innovation teams, Asset Technology Centers, and other affiliates.
  • Provide engineering insights for scope of work preparation and technical assessments for external services.
  • Support the Process Engineering Manager with additional responsibilities, including contributions to staff development.
  • Follow up and ensure closure of RCA, PHA, PIR, and audit recommendations.
  • Provide technical insights to address customer inquiries.
  • Contribute to energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives by optimizing chemical, power, and water usage.

Qualifications:

  • Relocation to Jubail, Saudi Arabia is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering.
  • At least 10 years of experience as a Process Engineer (Technical Support) in the relevant field.
  • Experience in project phases including pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup of chemical/ASU plants is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with international standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Proficient in simulation software.
  • Strong analytical, cost evaluation, and technical writing capabilities.
  • Experience in Process Elastomer manufacturing, specifically PBR (Poly Butadiene Rubber).
  • Solid understanding of Thermodynamics, Process/Equipment design, operation, and control of chemicals.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to foster relationships and motivate internal staff while collaborating with external groups.
