  • Alberta Early Childhood Educator Certification – Level 1, 2, or 3;
  • Experience in a licensed childcare environment with children aged 12 months to 6 years;
  • A collaborative mindset and a positive attitude;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with basic computer proficiency;
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR C certification (with CPR recertified within the last year);
  • Proof of a clear Police Information Check and Vulnerable Sector Search;
  • Three professional references.
Role Overview at YMCA Calgary
Reporting to the Child Care Supervisor, the Early Childhood Educator will:

  • Implement effective communication strategies for both internal and external stakeholders to enhance operational efficiency;
  • Collaborate with team members to manage center operations, adapting personal schedules to meet the needs of the area;
  • Deliver a diverse and developmentally appropriate program that aligns with the center's Program Plan, including the implementation of the YMCA Playing to Learn curriculum;
  • Support curriculum delivery and child development practices, actively engaging with children during all activities and addressing personal care needs;
  • Ensure safety by promptly addressing health and safety risks and managing emergency situations according to YMCA protocols;
  • Maintain required certifications and training;
  • Keep a clean, organized, and safe environment, adhering to established procedures from YMCA Calgary, Calgary Fire Department, Alberta Health Services, and relevant regulations;
  • Participate in center, facility, and association events and initiatives.
