We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Tenure-Track Assistant Professor of Teaching and Education to join our team at the University of British Columbia's Department of Zoology. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching biostatistics and biology courses, coordinating the teaching team, and developing educational programs.
Key Responsibilities- Teach biostatistics and biology courses, including BIOL 300 Fundamentals of Biostatistics
- Coordinate the teaching team for multiple sections of biostatistics lectures and tutorials using R
- Develop educational programs and courses in biostatistics and biology
- Contribute to curriculum development and pedagogical research and innovation
- Participate in departmental activities, service, events, and initiatives
- PhD in biology or biomedical science, or a related field
- Strong foundation in statistics relevant for the biological sciences
- Teaching experience in biostatistics and biology
- Ability to teach large enrollment courses
- Commitment to improving biology teaching and engaging with discipline-based educational research
- Experience in educational leadership and curriculum development
- Strong commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff
