Position Overview:
The role of the Assistive Technology Specialist involves assessing, recommending, and demonstrating assistive technology solutions tailored for individuals experiencing vision loss. This position also includes the development and delivery of training programs related to assistive software.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough assessments to identify the unique needs of individuals with sight loss regarding assistive technology.
- Prepare detailed assessment reports.
- Collaborate with clients to recommend suitable assistive technology and training solutions.
- Assist clients in implementing assistive technology, including setup and configuration.
- Perform administrative tasks such as service tracking and report writing.
- Deliver seminars and workshops on assistive technology to community organizations.
- Showcase assistive technology options to diverse audiences.
- Utilize electronic assessments to document client goals and rehabilitation plans.
- Contribute to workplace accommodation assessments for individuals with vision loss.
Relationship Management:
- Provide support and guidance to clients and their support networks in adjusting to vision loss.

- Build relationships with funding agencies, vendors, and educational institutions.

Qualifications:

Education:
- Post-secondary education in technology or a related field.
