About the Role

Athenian Group is a leading provider of professional technical recruitment, staffing, and payroll services to top consulting, engineering, manufacturing, and construction companies in Canada.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team and provide expert engineering services to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Design and Development: Plan, design, evaluate, and advise on the application of engineering principles, ensuring compliance with established project, department, company, client, and regulatory codes and standards.
  2. Project Management: Translate client specifications and project design criteria/objectives into deliverables, including study reports, simulations, calculations, data sheets, material requisitions, and construction work packages.
  3. Documentation and Review: Name and file documents according to client and company standards and procedures, and implement preliminary and multi-discipline reviews to ensure accuracy, functionality, safety, and completeness.
  4. Collaboration and Leadership: Collaborate with discipline engineers, review deliverables, and ensure they meet client and company standards, applicable codes, and specifications. Identify potential change notices and project variances, and engage in personal and continuing professional development to broaden engineering knowledge.
  5. Authority and Supervision: Exercise authority in discipline-specific engineering, design, drafting, and vendor documentation review, and supervise and provide guidance to a group of project personnel, including professionals and non-professionals.
  6. Leadership and Mentorship: Provide leadership in discipline-specific HAZOP/HAZID/3D model reviews/JHAs or other formal project reviews, and guide and mentor E.I.T., technicians, technologists, etc., ensuring the application of appropriate procedures and specifications.
Requirements
  1. Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  2. 10+ years' progressive experience, 10+ years' Canadian experience, 5+ years' leadership experience.
  3. Mechanical Engineering degree from an accredited post-secondary institution.
  4. Registered professional engineer in Alberta.
  5. Mining or extraction experience.
  6. Pressure vessel experience.
  7. This is a safety-sensitive position and will be subject to the relevant requirements of a drug and alcohol policy, including pre-assignment testing.
