As a Maintenance Assistant at Aspira Island View Retirement Living, you will play a critical role in ensuring the comfort and well-being of our residents. Your day will be filled with a variety of tasks, including executing general repair and maintenance work, cleaning and maintaining common areas, and performing routine maintenance on our facilities. **Key Responsibilities:**

* Execute general repair and maintenance work, including painting, plastering, and basic plumbing
* Clean and maintain common areas, including hallways, stairways, and common rooms
* Perform routine maintenance on facilities, including HVAC systems and electrical work
* Maintain building exterior, grounds, and parking lots
* Remove snow and apply salt to ensure resident, visitor, and team member safety
* Mow and water grass, tend to flower gardens, and apply fertilizer as needed
* Complete required forms and documents, and write reports as needed

**Requirements:**

* Certification, training, and work experience in building repairs, painting and finishes, floor care, safety procedures, property maintenance, plumbing, heating and air conditioning
* 1-2 years' experience in a similar position
* Proven customer service skills and excellent command of verbal and written English language
* Sound knowledge of the operation and maintenance of equipment used in the residence
* Ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team
* Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check (for Ontario applicants) or Criminal Records Check (for British Columbia applicants)
