About Burgundy Diamond Mines

Burgundy Diamond Mines stands as a distinguished global diamond enterprise, dedicated to the ethical sourcing and delivery of diamonds from the mine to the marketplace. With a commitment to traceability, we ensure that our diamonds originate from the renowned Ekati Diamond Mine located in Canada's Northwest Territories, extending through to retail sales.

Founded in Perth, Western Australia, Burgundy has carved a niche in the industry through its innovative strategies and unique vertically integrated business model, aimed at maximizing margins across the entire diamond value chain. Our operations include an office and a cutting and polishing facility in Perth, Australia, alongside offices in Calgary, Canada, and Antwerp, Belgium.

Position Overview

The Senior Mining Engineer will report directly to the Head of Mine Planning and Capital Projects, playing a pivotal role in the development of Preliminary Feasibility Studies (PFS) for our underground mining operations. The role encompasses not only the creation of PFS but also the support of long-term mine planning, including five-year and one-year operational strategies for Burgundy Diamond Mines.

As a key member of the Mine Planning Team, the Senior Mining Engineer will work a standard Monday to Friday schedule at the Calgary Corporate Office, with occasional site visits required. The successful candidate will be integral to the Mine Planning team, serving as the primary point of contact for PFS development related to our underground mining operations.

• Leading weekly and monthly meetings to update stakeholders on PFS progress;

• Establishing efficient water management systems;

• Designing optimized underground mine layouts, including ramps, raises, and essential infrastructure;

• Providing ventilation engineering support through simulations and network designs;

• Conducting regular site visits to ensure compliance with plans and safety standards;

• Preparing month-end actuals and corporate reports as necessary;

• Contributing to the development of Job Hazard Analyses (JHA) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP);

• Mentoring and coaching junior staff members;

• Offering technical guidance on geotechnical monitoring and support systems for underground operations;

• Maintaining strong relationships with contractors.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mining Engineering with approximately 10 years of experience in underground mining operations or technical consulting. Experience in supervisory or mentorship roles is a plus. Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) in Canada is required, with a preference for registration in the Northwest Territories;

• PMP certification or experience in project scheduling and execution is essential;

• Practical experience in sub-level caving and block caving mining methods;

• Expertise in capital forecasting, financial modeling, and economic analysis;

• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities;

• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in English;

• Proven leadership, planning, and organizational skills;

• Knowledge of mining safety regulations and practices;

• Effective time management and decision-making abilities;

• Familiarity with SAP is a benefit;
