Part-time Academic Support Specialist

Job Summary:

The Academic Laboratory Assistant will provide technical support and assistance to Faculty and staff in the delivery of skills-based learning at Algonquin College.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance and support to Faculty and staff in the setup and maintenance of laboratory sessions.
  • Manage the supply and equipment for Faculty and staff, including maintenance scheduling, inventory management, and equipment orientation.
  • Ensure the maintenance and upkeep of laboratory equipment and facilities.
  • Collaborate with Faculty and staff to develop and implement laboratory sessions and activities.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support to Faculty, staff, and students.

Requirements:

  • Trade certification or equivalent, such as a 1-year Pre-Service Firefighter certificate, along with an additional 2 years of experience or another relevant certification or diploma.
  • Valid WHMIS completion.
  • Valid DZ license.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in an environment that includes oversight of firefighting equipment maintenance and repairs, and inventory monitoring.

Working Conditions:

This position is subject to the terms of the Part-time Support Staff Collective Agreement.
