The RM of Gimli seeks a seasoned municipal leader to fill the position of Chief Administrative Officer. This key role involves overseeing the operations of the municipality, ensuring effective governance, and providing strategic direction to the Senior Management team.

  1. Provide expert advice to Council on legislative responsibilities and authorities, ensuring informed decision-making on municipal matters.
  2. Organize and attend Council meetings, prepare bylaws and resolutions, and provide recommendations for new initiatives supporting Council priorities.
  3. Ensure sound public relations and communicate municipal matters to employees, ratepayers, and citizens.
  4. Develop and implement policies, programs, and services to support Gimli's compliance with Manitoba legislation.
  5. Lead the Senior Management team, comprising the Assistant Chief Administrative Officer, Director of Finance, Director of Operations, Director of Recreation and Leisure Services, and Human Resource Consultant.
  6. Develop and implement long-term and annual plans in support of Council's strategic plan, maintaining records of key administrative and financial affairs.
  7. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other municipalities and constituencies.

  1. Relevant post-secondary education, such as a Certificate in Manitoba Municipal Administration (CMMA) or equivalent.
  2. Several years of experience in municipal administration, financial management, and human resource management, with a strong background in public works and recreation and leisure services.
  3. Strong leadership skills, with experience developing effective and empowered teams.
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to lead effective change.
  5. Experience with short and long-term planning, including the development and implementation of key initiatives.
  6. Demonstrated experience working in a regulatory environment, with a strong knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation.
  7. Highly developed oral and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse groups.
  8. Demonstrated understanding of effective governance principles and prior experience working with councils or similar governing bodies.
