Overview:
As a Mechanical Research and Development Engineer, your primary focus will be on the creation, enhancement, and refinement of prototypes while effectively communicating your expertise to both internal teams and external stakeholders. You will oversee the entire new product development lifecycle, guiding your projects from concept through to manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with cross-functional teams to devise engineering solutions
- Design and conduct experiments, drawing conclusions on product or process efficacy
- Manage and implement testing protocols, including the development of experimental guidelines
- Collaborate with sales teams to facilitate client testing of new products and support field evaluations
- Conduct essential research and development tasks for various projects
- Create testing methodologies for assessing new products in line with relevant standards
- Document comprehensive technical reports detailing testing methods, outcomes, and insights
- Identify and promote cost-saving initiatives for commercial offerings
- Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to technical staff
- Utilize CAD software to produce 3D models
- Perform numerical simulations and analyses to enhance mechanical designs
- Plan, execute, and interpret testing results
- Gather and evaluate data to formulate theoretical models
- Generate engineering documentation (specifications, reports, plans, calculations, product launch documents, etc.)
- Act as a project leader for designated initiatives
Qualifications & Required Skills:
- Demonstrated innovation, analytical skills, and creativity
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, industrial design, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design
- Registered member of the Quebec Order of Engineers (OIQ)
- Proficient in SolidWorks 3D CAD software
- Extensive knowledge of metal fabrication processes
- Familiarity with contemporary cutting tool technologies
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Strong organizational and project management skills
- Effective problem-solving and communication skills
- Collaborative team player with strong analytical capabilities
- Knowledge of electronic techniques is advantageous
- Methodical and systematic approach
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English, both spoken and written
