Family Physician Role OverviewKey Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive obstetric and postpartum healthcare services to individuals across all age groups.
  • Assume responsibility for patient workload and clinical practice.
  • Facilitate patient care coordination with other healthcare professionals.
  • Deliver community-focused healthcare along with secondary and tertiary care services.
  • Adhere to health authority regulations and standards.
  • Aim for timely access to care for patients, ideally same-day or next-day.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues to address community health requirements.
  • Offer after-hours and emergency medical coverage as necessary.
  • Engage in initiatives aimed at quality improvement.
Work Schedule
  • This is a part-time role.
  • Involvement in OB Clinic and on-call group shifts is expected.
Required Qualifications
  • Current licensure with CPSNS is mandatory.
  • Certification from CFPC for family medicine practitioners is required.
  • Membership with CMPA is essential.
  • ACLS certification is necessary.
  • BCLS certification is required.
  • NRC certification is needed.
  • Experience or training in primary care obstetrics is essential.
  • Experience in newborn care is considered an asset.
