Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Alberta Health Services Full time

Your Role:

The Adult Community Churchill Square Addiction and Mental Health Clinic is dedicated to providing comprehensive addiction and mental health services to the residents of Edmonton. Our program is guided by the Edmonton Zone Addiction & Mental Health Principles of Care, ensuring that we deliver quality, client-centered, recovery-oriented, and culturally sensitive care to individuals seeking support in these areas.

As a Mental Health Clinician (MHC), you will collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to offer personalized supportive counseling and case management to clients presenting a diverse range of clinical issues. Your responsibilities will include conducting ongoing mental status evaluations, risk assessments, and supportive therapy, along with managing case coordination for medication administration and financial assistance for clients facing complex addiction and mental health challenges.

In this role, you will work closely with the client's primary care provider to facilitate a smooth transition back to their medical home once they are stabilized. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of addiction and mental health assessment and diagnosis, and will be adept at navigating both the healthcare system and external partnerships to ensure that services are effectively coordinated to meet client needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct intake assessments and clinical interviews for clients with addiction and mental health disorders.
  • Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to enhance service delivery.
  • Participate in program planning and development initiatives.
  • Provide supervision and mentorship to practicum students as needed.

Qualifications:

Applicants should have completed a master's degree in psychology, a bachelor's degree in social work with a focus on mental health assessment and intervention, or a relevant degree in occupational therapy, nursing, or psychiatric nursing. Registration with the appropriate Alberta regulatory college is required or must be eligible for registration.

Preferred Qualifications:

A comprehensive understanding of community resources related to Addiction and Mental Health, along with familiarity with mental health legislation, including Community Treatment Orders, will be considered an asset.
