Position Summary

Under the general guidance of the Team Coordinator or their delegate, the Aide functions as an integral member of the health care team, aiding with client personal care and delivering basic supportive services as instructed. The Health Care Aide embodies a commitment to the vision, values, goals, and objectives of the organization.

Experience Requirements
  • Prior experience in client care is essential. Experience in community or geriatric settings is preferred.
Educational Qualifications
  • Completion of a recognized Health Care Aide training program is mandatory.

Skills and Competencies
  • Knowledge:
    • Understanding of the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), and Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions) is required. Additional training will be provided during the probationary period for:
    • Regional, site, and program policies and procedures.
    • Roles and responsibilities of health care team members.
  • General skills and capability to execute all tasks and responsibilities pertinent to the role.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize assigned tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to identify and pursue opportunities for self-improvement.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Basic proficiency in computer applications: MS Word and Outlook.
  • Experience with electronic charting systems is advantageous.
  • Capability to manage multiple simultaneous demands.
  • Ability to collaborate as a team member and seek assistance when needed.
  • Excellent command of the English language (both spoken and written).
  • Preference will be given to candidates who are proficient in an Aboriginal language and/or possess knowledge of Aboriginal customs, traditions, and values.
Physical Demands
  • This role requires considerable physical activity, including lifting, transferring, and transporting clients and equipment.

This position necessitates a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the commencement of employment.
