About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled R&D Systems Engineer to join our team at KNG Technical Inc. as a key member of our Engineering Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving the integration of instrumentation to develop innovative products for the human diagnostic market.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Instrumentation Integration: Develop and optimize new liquid handler protocols for high-throughput screening and assay platforms, specifically using Hamilton Venus.
  2. Automated Diagnostics Instrumentation: Analyze, design, and test automated diagnostics instrumentation from a systems engineering perspective, including liquid handling and Fluorescens scanner devices.
  3. Technical Design and Documentation: Write technical design documents according to set standards and guidelines within FDA, Health Canada, and ISO 13485 regulations for design generation and design control.
  4. Integration and Testing: Integrate instrumentation development, design improvements, and testing practices with the Software Development Team, managing these activities via Atlassian tools for version control and issue management.
  5. Quality Management: Investigate and resolve reported system issues within the Quality Management System, including conducting root cause analyses and risk assessments, planning and executing corrections and corrective/preventative actions.
Requirements
  1. Education and Qualifications: Undergraduate degree in Systems, CS, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or related Engineering field.
  2. Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in biotechnology or medical device company, preferably with experience integrating automated medical devices.
  3. Programming Skills: Proven programming experience in C, C#, Python, and JAVA is required.
  4. Instrumentation Design: Knowledge of CAD and instrumentation design.
  5. Documentation and Analysis: Ability to create documentation within a Quality Management System and analyze and summarize experimental data.
Other Requirements
  1. Strong Work Ethic and Communication Skills: Strong work ethic and organizational skills, highly motivated, conscientious, ability to work both independently and as a team player, excellent oral and written communication skills.
  2. Technical Expertise: Defining and interpreting technical requirements and specifications for new/next-generation instruments, especially in areas related to controls, firmware, and software.
  3. Collaboration and Adaptability: Ability to effectively collaborate with programmers, engineers, scientists, and production management during the entire life cycle of system development, willingness to learn new skills and attention to detail.
  4. Programming Experience: Experience programming liquid handling such as Hamilton liquid handling platforms, including creation of HSL libraries, or TECAN or PerkinElmer, experience with robotic programming, and experience utilizing source code control.
