About the Role:

VIA Rail is seeking a highly skilled Senior Advisor, Operational Risk Management – Projects to join our team. As a key member of our Project Management Office, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the operational risk management process for our project management office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and assess operational risks in project activities and processes throughout all phases of the project, including safety, security, health, environment, people, IT, processes, regulatory, and resilience.
  • Support and advise risk owners in the development and implementation of risk mitigation strategies and action plans to address identified risks.
  • Manage the development of change management and communication plans related to operational risks and opportunities.
  • Supervise and guide the implementation of the company's operational risk management program in the project management office.
  • Prepare and analyze various risk reports, updates, and dashboards for project stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • University degree in project management, engineering, sciences, risk management, business administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience (8 to 10 years) in risk management, particularly in major project settings. Project management experience in operations or construction is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of applicable governance and risk management standards, operational risk management, and project management principles, methodologies, tools, and software.
  • Excellent ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing (English and French).
  • Ability to assess complex project risks, develop practical mitigation strategies, and make effective decisions.
