Position Overview:
The role of the Educational Developer in Community Engaged Teaching and Learning is situated within the Office of Community Engagement, with collaborative support from the MacPherson Institute.
The primary responsibility of the incumbent is to enhance institutional capabilities in community-focused teaching and learning. This includes fostering and nurturing partnerships between the university and the community, as well as contributing to the design and development of programs and curricula for the Interdisciplinary Minor in Community Engagement. While the emphasis is on community-engaged education, the role may also involve participation in broader university discussions and committees that influence experiential education.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with campus stakeholders and community partners.
- Advise faculty on the development and enhancement of academic courses and programs to align with educational objectives.
- Stay informed about institutional and provincial policies related to university teaching and curriculum standards.
- Provide guidance on program implementation, processes, and timelines.
- Collaborate with department leaders to identify teaching support needs and develop actionable plans.
- Design and facilitate workshops, training sessions, and retreats focused on effective teaching strategies and academic program design.
- Develop and assess training programs aimed at enhancing teaching skills among faculty, staff, and students.
- Offer recommendations on best practices in teaching and learning, including accessibility and innovative teaching methods.
- Conduct research to identify areas for improvement in academic courses and programs.
- Organize events and meetings to support teaching and learning initiatives.
- Create and maintain quality resources for educational development.
- Engage in educational research and contribute to scholarly publications.
- Coordinate various events and activities, ensuring effective management of resources and budgets.
- Utilize project management tools to track and report on program activities and outcomes.
- Continuously seek professional development opportunities to remain current in the field of teaching and learning.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Education or a related discipline.
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience in educational development.
