Job Summary

The York Region District School Board is seeking a qualified Designated Early Childhood Educator to join our team on a casual basis. As a Designated Early Childhood Educator, you will be responsible for providing education and support to kindergarten students, working collaboratively with the Kindergarten teacher and other staff to implement The Kindergarten Program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver education to kindergarten students
  • Observe, monitor, and assess student development
  • Maintain a healthy and inclusive learning environment
  • Communicate with families and staff
  • Perform duties assigned by the principal, including supervision and support of students
  • Guide and assist students in developing self-help skills
  • Attend meetings and perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma with a recognized post-secondary diploma/degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario
  • Minimum one year of related experience
  • Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
  • General working knowledge of computers and Board-approved software
  • Ability to physically assist children as required
Additional Information

The successful candidate will be required to submit a current original Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) from the police jurisdiction in which they reside or an Enhanced Police Information Check (E-PIC) through Sterling Backcheck prior to commencing employment with the Board.
