Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) is seeking dedicated individuals to fill the role of Youth Peer Support Worker. This position offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of young people facing mental health or substance use challenges in North Vancouver.

Your Role:

  • Provide non-clinical, peer-based support services to youth navigating mental health and substance use systems. Offer practical, emotional, and social guidance to empower them on their journey to recovery.
  • Collaborate with clinicians to deliver comprehensive employment services, equipping youth with the skills and resources needed for successful career pathways.
  • Facilitate engaging peer-based groups, conduct informative sessions, and uphold Foundry's Service Model, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment.

What We Look For:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent, coupled with completion of a recognized Peer Support Training Program.
  • Two years of relevant experience in a peer support role, demonstrating your commitment to empowering others through lived experience.
  • Personal experience with recovery from mental illness and a deep understanding of the complexities surrounding mental health and addiction services.

Your Skills & Abilities:

  • Maintain strict confidentiality and respect personal boundaries, creating a safe space for open communication.
  • Leverage your lived experiences to build genuine connections with youth, fostering trust and understanding.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of mental health and substance use resources available in the community.
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, effectively conveying information and building rapport.
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment, prioritizing tasks and contributing to shared goals.
