Your Opportunity:

At Alberta Health Services, we are committed to providing high-quality care to our patients. We are seeking a skilled Orthopaedic Technician to join our team at the Peter Lougheed Hospital.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will work as an essential member of the Emergency Department team, caring for patients of varying acuity. The role involves planning, assessing, treating, and monitoring the care of orthopaedic and minor acuity patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Apply, adjust, and remove casts, splints, and traction equipment
  • Observe, monitor, report, and document changes in patient physical, mental, and emotional state
  • Provide safe and effective quality care to patients
  • Work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to provide patient-centered care
Requirements:
  • Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse education program
  • Active or eligible for registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA)
  • Completion of an accredited specialty Orthopaedic Technician program
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP)
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Current certification with Canadian Society of Orthopedic Technologists
  • Demonstrates critical thinking skills, problem-solving skills, and strong decision-making ability
  • Demonstrates Family Centered Care, professional interpersonal, and communication skills
