POSITION OVERVIEW

We are looking for an enthusiastic leader to take charge as a Manager, Cultivation. This role involves overseeing all crop management within our production facility, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality crops and trials while leading our Cultivation team.

Reporting directly to the Director of Operations, you will implement best practices and Standard Operating Procedures, managing environmental, nutrient, and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies at our facility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provide hands-on leadership, training, and mentorship to supervisors and team members, focusing on achieving Safety, Quality, Cost, and Employee Engagement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) across various teams.
  2. Maintain open communication with the cultivation team, offering constructive performance feedback to foster motivation and a positive work atmosphere.
  3. Encourage team involvement to meet shared organizational goals.
  4. Identify and rectify unsafe conditions and practices to prevent injuries and downtime, collaborating with supervisors to uphold a safe working environment.
  5. Assist in conducting safety inspections across all Cultivation areas and drive effective investigation and inspection initiatives.
  6. Collaborate with site leadership and Cultivation leaders across the organization, escalating any crop or production issues to relevant parties.
  7. Recommend and coordinate corrective and preventative actions to resolve issues and promote continuous improvement.
  8. Monitor daily operations to identify opportunities for enhancing productivity, efficiency, and quality.
  9. Work with the IPM team to implement timely pest and disease control measures as necessary.
  10. Lead the optimization of cultivation processes in collaboration with the Cultivation Science team and Special Projects, managing project initiation, execution, and reporting.
  11. Coordinate with the Operations Manager and extended team to ensure the production plan is effectively maintained and adjusted as needed.
  12. Adhere to Aurora SOPs, ISO standards, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Health Canada's Cannabis Act, along with any additional regulatory requirements.
  13. Promote and uphold Good Agricultural and Collection Practices (GACP) across all Cultivation departments.
  14. Be adaptable to changes in position details and activities to meet operational needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to meet objectives.
  2. Exceptional communication and problem-solving abilities.
  3. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in MS Office applications.
  4. Excellent time management, leadership, decision-making, and interpersonal skills.
  5. Familiarity with climate control systems (e.g., Priva, Argus, or Hoogendoom).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  1. A post-secondary degree in Agriculture/Horticulture or relevant experience is preferred.
  2. Experience managing or supervising a team of up to 50 individuals is required.
  3. 2-5 years of experience in commercial plant propagation is advantageous.
