Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled GIS Analyst to join our team at the City of Vancouver. As a GIS Analyst, you will be responsible for investigating, analyzing, and developing GIS solutions to support our organization's strategic and operational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Elicit and analyze business requirements to design and develop GIS solutions
  • Evaluate existing and proposed processes and systems to drive design and development of enhancements and new GIS solutions
  • Configure and develop custom GIS solutions leveraging the City's ESRI platform
  • Facilitate discussions with GIS users to identify challenges and develop procedures and standards
  • Develop and implement strategies for encouraging data governance best practices and adoption of standards
  • Provide technical assistance and support to GIS users
  • Plan, document, and execute GIS solution implementation
  • Estimate time and cost of research, analysis, and development activities
  • Prepare and maintain detailed user and operations documentation
Requirements
  • Completion of university degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or GIS
  • 3 years of experience with implementation and maintenance of ESRI GIS solutions
  • 3 years of experience with SQL, Python, and FME scripting
  • 3 years of experience with user engagement, requirements gathering, and change management
  • Advanced skills in ESRI ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise
  • Strong knowledge of ArcGIS Python API, Jupyter Notebooks, and Safe Software FME
  • Ability to strategically answer complex business questions through data analysis and scenario modeling
  • Ability to leverage strong analytical, technical, and troubleshooting skills to solve complex problems
