POSITION SUMMARY

The Marketing and Communications Coordinator plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing the marketing strategies for Thompson Rivers University. This position involves the oversight and coordination of a comprehensive marketing and communications strategy that aligns with the university's brand and strategic objectives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Strategic Planning: Develops and coordinates a detailed Marketing and Communications plan, ensuring alignment with the university's brand and strategic priorities.
  2. Stakeholder Engagement: Creates and maintains effective marketing and communication initiatives to engage various stakeholders, including students, faculty, alumni, and employers.
  3. Event Coordination: Plans and manages events, liaising with stakeholders to meet diverse marketing and communication needs while adhering to brand standards.
  4. Content Development: Assists in selecting faculty, staff, and students for features in publications and communications, ensuring high-quality content curation.
  5. Campaign Management: Aids in the design and execution of marketing campaigns, including newsletters and social media, while adhering to project timelines and standards.
  6. Digital Optimization: Monitors and recommends improvements for digital marketing efforts, including social media, newsletters, and website content.
  7. Website Management: Coordinates updates and changes to the university's website, maintaining a schedule for regular content updates.
  8. Resource Management: Develops and maintains repositories for marketing and communication resources related to recurring events and projects.
  9. Material Design: Designs and updates various marketing materials, ensuring they meet the university's branding guidelines.
  10. Budget Oversight: Manages the marketing and communications budget effectively.
  11. Photography Coordination: Organizes photo shoots and manages a repository of images, including headshots and event photography.
  12. Equipment Management: Oversees the maintenance and procurement of video, audio, and photography equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Business, Journalism, Arts, or a related field.

Experience:
A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in a post-secondary environment, including:

  • Proficiency in content creation, editing, and design for both print and digital platforms.
  • Experience in marketing and internal/external communications.
  • Event planning and execution experience.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to manage complex workload plans.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Proficient in writing, editing, and designing content for publications.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in MS Office and desktop publishing.
  • Expertise in Adobe Suite, including Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Experience with content management systems and basic HTML.
  • Understanding of Google Analytics and SEO principles.
  • Knowledge of current marketing trends, including social media and video production.
  • Event planning expertise.
  • Familiarity with copyright and privacy laws related to marketing.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Photography skills, including composition and editing.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Commitment to serving diverse stakeholders.
WORKING CONDITIONS
  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk and computer.
  • Outdoor and indoor photography operations.

The salary for this position is determined by the applicable collective agreement.
