The Public Service Commission (PSC) serves as the primary human resource authority for the Government of Saskatchewan.

The PSC is dedicated to providing leadership in human resources and developing policies in areas such as employee relations, comprehensive rewards, talent management, organizational effectiveness, safety, wellness, and inclusivity.

Our clientele encompasses various ministries within the executive government as well as numerous government agencies, boards, and commissions.

Our objective is to ensure that the Government of Saskatchewan possesses the necessary workforce to effectively fulfill its priorities and cater to the needs of its citizens through our Business Partner service delivery model.

The PSC prioritizes employee development and career advancement within the human resource sector.

Our Senior Business Partners play a pivotal role in aligning client business operations with HR practices and strategic goals.

In this managerial capacity, they exhibit essential leadership qualities vital for mentoring and developing a team of Human Resource Business Partners.

To empower our Business Partners in addressing client requirements, our model fosters collaboration with staff in our Communities of Expertise and Human Resource Service Centre, who possess extensive knowledge in specialized HR domains, including Employee Relations, Total Rewards, Employee Wellbeing and Inclusion, Talent Management, Organizational Development, HR Pay Management, Payroll, and Benefits.

Additionally, there is an opportunity to engage with over 20 other Senior Business Partners through a Community of Practice that encourages the exchange of ideas and collaborative problem-solving.

The Public Service Commission is in search of two seasoned human resource professionals to fill the role of Term Senior Human Resource Business Partners.

As part of one of our nine Business Partner Teams, you will work in a collaborative and strategic manner with ministry clients to develop human resource solutions that align with the Ministry's objectives.

As a Senior Human Resource Business Partner, your responsibilities will include:

  • Establishing partnerships with senior leaders in ministries to proactively deliver human resource programs across various service lines;
  • Assuming a managerial role to lead, coach, and develop a team of Human Resource Business Partners;
  • Ensuring alignment between ministry operations and HR practices and policies;
  • Collaborating with internal subject matter experts and Senior Business Partner colleagues to address client needs;
  • Working closely with team members on projects and committees to advance PSC initiatives and strategies, such as culture, engagement, and leadership development.

This position allows you to utilize your leadership skills, enthusiasm, and technical expertise within an organization that values Respect and Integrity, Serving Citizens, Excellence and Innovation, and Acting as One Team.

Your role will also involve:

  • Building strategic partnerships with senior leaders in ministries to proactively provide solutions for their current, emerging, and future human resource needs;
  • Demonstrating proficiency in performance management to effectively engage, develop, and support direct reports;
  • Exhibiting leadership qualities to coach and inspire team members and clients to achieve high-quality results;
  • Engaging in innovative practices by observing shifts, trends, and approaches beyond the government sector.

A Bachelor's degree in human resource management is required, along with experience in a HR Business Partner Model. An equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered, and possession of a CPHR or IPMA-CP/CS or equivalent designation would be advantageous.
