Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver personal care to patients, including assistance with toileting, bathing, grooming, dressing, and mobilization.
  • Monitor and report on patient progress, noting any changes in condition or discomfort to the assigned nurse.
  • Support patients during meal times by managing dietary needs and assisting with feeding when necessary.
  • Under the guidance of nursing staff, take vital signs and collect non-sterile specimens, documenting findings accurately.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate records of patient care activities and observations in accordance with established protocols.
  • Facilitate patient transport using appropriate equipment such as wheelchairs and stretchers.
  • Assist with the admission, discharge, and transfer processes for patients, ensuring personal belongings are handled with care.
  • Prepare charts for new patients and ensure all necessary documentation is attached as per established guidelines.
  • Perform various administrative and support tasks, including answering phones, managing supply orders, and maintaining cleanliness in patient care areas.
  • Participate in training sessions and meetings as required to enhance patient care practices.
  • Execute additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience

Completion of Grade 10 along with graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant program or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Current Food Safe Level One certification is required.

Skills and Competencies
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction with patients and team members.
  • Physical capability to perform the duties associated with the role.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in operating relevant medical equipment.
