We are currently seeking a Lab Patient Technician to support our operations.
As a Lab Patient Technician, your primary responsibility will involve overseeing the specimen collection process, which includes welcoming patients and preparing specimens for transport. This pivotal role is essential to both patient care and our operational success, allowing you to witness the significant impact you have on patients' lives. This position is part-time and ideal for someone with a flexible schedule, with opportunities to take on additional shifts at various LifeLabs locations.
Flexibility in scheduling is essential, with the requirement to work shifts throughout the week, including weekends.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients, gather necessary information, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure compliance with testing protocols.
- Conduct phlebotomies, connect and disconnect Holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
- Carry out specialized test collections, including medical/legal drug screenings, paternity tests, and clinical trials, while completing all necessary documentation.
- Maintain positive client relationships by addressing inquiries and following up on requests.
- Input essential patient demographics, requisition details, and other relevant information for processing test results.
- Prepare specimens for transportation and subsequent testing.
The ideal candidate will prioritize exceptional customer and patient service, demonstrating the ability to connect with patients and clients even in challenging situations. Key attributes include: empathy, adaptability, flexibility, and strong problem-solving capabilities.
Additional Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent experience.
- Proficient computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient privacy and confidentiality.
