Job Summary

The YMCA of Greater Vancouver is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Employment Coach to join our YBEAT Program team. As an Employment Coach, you will play a vital role in supporting young people with mental health barriers to achieve their employment goals.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and facilitate workshops on life skills, employability, and job maintenance to equip participants with the necessary tools for success.
  • Conduct participant assessments to determine their work readiness and suitability for the program.
  • Collaborate with participants to create personalized Action Plans outlining their employment and training objectives.
  • Provide regular one-on-one check-ins and follow-up support to track participants' employment progress and address any challenges they may face.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with community organizations and referral agencies to provide wrap-around programming and support services.
  • Effectively respond to crisis situations and implement behavioral management strategies to ensure participant safety and well-being.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with multiple stakeholders, including employers and community partners, to facilitate job placements and support long-term attachment to the labor market.
  • Conduct outreach and recruitment efforts to engage and support suitable participants in the program.
  • Recruit potential employers to provide work opportunities for participants and match them with employers that align with their goals and needs.
  • Provide follow-up support to program participants who have completed the program and collect proof of employment to track their success.
  • Maintain accurate case notes, reports, and statistical information using a CRM system to inform program development and evaluation.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Post-secondary certificate, diploma, or degree in a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience working with youth or individuals with mental health challenges and/or mental illness.
  • CDP or related certification is an asset.
  • Experience in developing and facilitating community-based programming and services.
  • Strong facilitation skills with proven experience in developing curriculum in life skills, employability, and computer skills within an employment program setting.
  • Awareness of local youth resources and willingness to develop community supports.
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and multi-task in a high-demand environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency in Adobe, DocuSign, Salesforce, and Microsoft 365.
  • High degree of independence and initiative within a team environment.
  • Proven responsibility to coordinate tasks and work as part of a team.
