About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Technology Governance to join our team at Canada Life Assurance Company. As a key member of our Global Technology Strategy & Governance team, you will be responsible for end-to-end reporting aggregation across different segments and geographies, data analytics, and management of Governance forums.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute the overall governance framework, ensuring its effective implementation and ongoing improvement.
  • Oversee day-to-day reporting aggregation, quarterly collection and review process, regulatory submissions, and interactions with various stakeholders.
  • Deliver quarterly reporting aggregation process, from developing structure for upcoming submissions to presenting at CIO and CEO level forums.
  • Develop compelling stories and decks on key topics identified by the Global Technology Strategy and Governance team and/or the Global CIO and CISO.
  • Provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly materials for various forums, meetings, and councils.
  • Drive change across multiple segments, including updates to submission materials, reported metrics, and processes for multiple deliverables.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with all three lines of defense, serving as a liaison for the Global Technology Strategy team.
  • Support initiatives that drive technology business management, developing mechanisms for visibility into performance of priorities.
  • Collaborate with Global teams, providing support, advice, and consultancy while working within a matrix setting.
  • Break down complex projects into manageable milestones, measuring performance against these objectives.
Requirements
  • 7+ years of experience in operating within unstructured and ambiguous environments and Global matrix settings.
  • 10+ years of Strategy, Governance experience in Big 4 consulting firms and/or Global governance experience.
  • Ability to influence leaders across segments, regions, and functional teams.
  • 10+ years of people management and team building experience.
  • 10+ years of data aggregation, data automation, data management processes experience.
  • 7+ years of relevant experience in data and analytics, including reporting and automation tools, Power applications, and solutions.
  • PMP or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Business and technical acumen, with understanding of technology operations at a Global level.
  • University Degree in Computer Science, Business, or Finance, with related designation.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, proficient in PowerPoint.
  • Understanding of different tooling and data methodologies and ecosystem.
  • Creative and strategic thinking, with proven analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong business acumen and experience in finance or expense management and planning.
  • Effective communication and relationship building skills.
  • Well-developed organizational and time management skills.
What We Offer

As a Director of Technology Governance at Canada Life Assurance Company, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment, with a competitive salary range of $99,800 - $166,300 annually. This position will be located in Toronto, with a requirement to be in the office up to 3 days per week.
