Job Summary

As a key member of the Royal Bank of Canada's Environmental and Social Risk Management team, the Director, Environmental Governance will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of data and model governance strategies, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards. This role requires a strong analytical background and expertise in data management, model risk management, and risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Maintain Data and Model Governance Strategy
  • Lead the Team Providing Insights into Best Practices and Oversight on Data Management, Controls, and Integrity of Data & Documentation
  • Ensure Compliance with Relevant Bank Standards and Regulatory Requirements
  • Design and Implement Controls and Quality Assurance Tools
  • Coordinate Between Stakeholders, Internal & External Auditors, and Regulators
  • Develop, Maintain, and Execute Model Monitoring Reports
  • Communicate Effectively on Controls, Assurance Activities, and Related Emerging Risks and Controls
Requirements
  • 7+ Years of Industry Experience in Model and Data Governance
  • Degree in a Quantitative Field or Equivalent
  • Expertise in Programming and Querying Languages (e.g., SQL, Python)
  • Strong Knowledge and Experience in Data Management, Model Governance, and Risk Concepts
  • Prior Working Experience with Model Risk Management Framework, Quality Assurance Framework, Risk Mitigation, and Issue Remediation
  • Strong Knowledge of Data Quality Controls and Procedures Documentation
  • Effective Communication and Presentation Skills (Written and Verbal)
  • Ability to Adapt to a Constantly Evolving and Fast-Paced Environment
  • Commitment to Quality and Accuracy with a High Level of Attention to Detail
  • Strategic Thinking Skills with Proven Ability to Drive Results in a Cross-Functional Environment
