Job Summary

The Recreation, Cultural and Facility Services department at the City of Ottawa is seeking a qualified Fitness Instructor to provide instruction on a wide variety of group fitness and fitness-related classes for identified programs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction on group fitness and fitness-related classes in accordance with corporate and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement fitness programs that meet the needs of diverse populations.
  • Collaborate with other recreation and cultural services staff to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive program offering.
  • Ensure a safe and inclusive environment for participants.
Requirements
  • Completion of Grade 10 and current fitness certification from a recognized fitness certification organization.
  • Minimum of 6 months of experience or equivalent apprenticeship.
  • Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including the rights and duties of workers.
  • Ability to speak clearly and actively listen.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
