Position Overview

The Consultant for Workplace Respect will report to the Director of Health Equity and Wellness and will be responsible for providing strategic guidance and consultation on all aspects of respectful workplace investigations, prevention, and education. This role will involve developing and maintaining policies and programs that align with best practices and relevant legislation.

The Consultant will research and implement innovative solutions that support the organization's objectives while adhering to applicable policies and collective agreements. Collaboration with various stakeholders within the People & Organization Development team and external partners is essential for effective service delivery.

In partnership with HR Business Partners and other relevant teams, the Consultant will offer proactive coaching and support to prevent formal complaints. When complaints arise, the Consultant will assist all parties involved throughout the investigation process, which includes conducting inquiries, compiling findings, and providing recommendations.

Work Schedule

This position operates Monday to Friday and is eligible for hybrid work arrangements. Occasional travel may be required to deliver training or conduct investigations.

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree or relevant certification, or a combination of education and experience in managing complex cases.
  • Preferred certification as a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or equivalent in conflict resolution.
  • Experience in Adult Education is an asset.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in human resource services, coaching, and conflict resolution in a unionized environment.
  • Proven facilitation and adult education skills.
  • Formal training in mediation and conflict resolution is required.
  • Experience in conducting workplace investigations and writing comprehensive reports.
  • Knowledge of cultural responsiveness and trauma-informed practices.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and case law.
  • Ability to interpret collective agreements and policies.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills for relationship building.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficient in client service and relationship management.
  • Strong consultative, influencing, and coaching skills.
  • Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Competency in additional languages is a plus.
