We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Estimator to join our team at JobContax. As a Senior Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate mechanical cost estimates and ensuring timely submission of tenders.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct in-depth reviews of tender documents, drawings, specifications, schedules, and other relevant information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Manage quantity take-offs and populate pricing documents with detailed and accurate information.
- Obtain competitive quotations from suppliers and sub-contractors, and validate their compliance with specifications and scope of works.
- Present completed estimates to the Pre-Construction Director and the Board of Directors, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
- Tender document control, including drawing analysis and specifications for inclusion in Bills of Quantities (BOQs).
- Mentor and train junior members of the mechanical estimation team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
- Coordinate and collaborate with the Electrical Estimators to ensure a comprehensive and accurate estimate.
- Participate in the development of procedures to ensure a high standard of quality control in the documents produced by the Estimating Department.
- Identify risks and potential tender opportunities, and highlight these to the Estimating Manager.
- Ensure the level of detail in estimates and whether potential risks and contingencies are adequately accounted for.
- Effective communication with clients, subcontractors, and internal team members to ensure seamless collaboration and project success.
- Manage estimating manpower to ensure efficient use of resources and lead junior estimators in the successful completion of their individual tasks.
- Identify and cost potential value engineering opportunities to optimize project outcomes.
- Previous mechanical cost estimating experience in a contracting environment, with experience of delivering tenders from enquiry to award stage.
- Strong computer skills, especially in the use of MS Office.
- Strong understanding of mechanical and process pipework systems, HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical building services systems.
- Good knowledge of different mechanical and process pipework materials.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to interpret drawings and specifications, perform accurate take-offs, and prepare detailed BOQs.
- Ability to manage own workload and meet deadlines.
- Must display excellent time management, communication, numerical, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Problem-solving skills with attention to detail and multitasking abilities.
Salary will be in line with qualifications and experience.
