About the Role
As an Associate Art Director at Ubisoft Montreal, you will play a crucial role in shaping the artistic vision for the Prince of Persia franchise. Working closely with the Artistic Director, your primary focus will be on translating the creative direction into tangible assets and ensuring its consistent application across various game elements.
Your Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a team of talented artists, including concept artists, modelers, and level designers, to bring the artistic vision to life.
- Maintain the visual coherence and quality of the game world, architecture, and lighting, ensuring a cohesive and immersive experience for players.
- Develop mood boards, concept art, and reference materials to inspire and guide the artistic team.
- Work closely with lighters to enhance the visual impact and atmosphere of the game environment.
- Act as a liaison between the Art Director and various teams, effectively communicating artistic direction and feedback.
- Lead regular meetings with your team to provide constructive feedback, share ideas, set milestones, and address any challenges.
- Collaborate with co-development teams and technical directors to ensure the highest visual quality for all game elements.
Your Qualifications
- A strong foundation in art fundamentals, including lighting, composition, architecture, anatomy, and proportion, as well as a deep understanding of artistic culture (photography, film, literature, comics).
- Proficiency in game engines (e.g., Unity or Unreal), 2D art tools (e.g., Photoshop), and 3D software (e.g., 3DS Max, Maya, or ZBrush).
- Relevant experience in the video game industry, particularly in an art-related role, with demonstrated leadership skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, enabling effective communication across different teams and disciplines.
- A collaborative and open-minded approach, receptive to new ideas and perspectives.
