KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

As a vital member of the Sustainability Office, the incumbent will be responsible for the following:

  1. Strategic Planning: Develops and oversees comprehensive marketing and communication strategies that align with the TRU Brand and the strategic objectives of the department.
  2. Stakeholder Engagement: Creates and maintains effective communication channels to engage internal and external stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, and employers.
  3. Event Coordination: Plans and coordinates various marketing and communication initiatives, ensuring adherence to brand standards and strategic goals.
  4. Content Development: Assists in the selection and highlighting of faculty, staff, students, and alumni for publications and communications.
  5. Campaign Management: Aids in the design and execution of marketing campaigns for the Sustainability Office, including newsletters and social media outreach, ensuring compliance with project timelines and standards.
  6. Digital Optimization: Monitors and recommends improvements for digital marketing efforts, including social media, newsletters, and website content.
  7. Website Management: Coordinates updates and changes to the Sustainability Office website, maintaining a schedule for online content updates.
  8. Resource Management: Establishes and maintains repositories for marketing and communication materials related to recurring events and projects.
  9. Marketing Material Design: Designs and updates various marketing materials, including posters, bulletin boards, and digital displays.
  10. Photography Coordination: Organizes photo shoots and manages a repository of images, including headshots and event photography.
REPORTING STRUCTURE

This position reports directly to the Manager of Sustainability Programs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • Diploma in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a post-secondary or similar environment, including:
    • Event planning and execution.
    • Content creation, writing, editing, and design for both print and digital media.
    • Experience in internal and external communications and marketing.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Proficient in coordinating complex workload plans.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Strong writing, editing, and design capabilities for marketing publications.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in MS Office and desktop publishing.
  • Expertise in Adobe Suite, including Photoshop and InDesign.
  • Experience with content management systems, such as WordPress, and familiarity with HTML.
  • In-depth knowledge of current marketing trends, social media, and event planning.
  • Understanding of copyright and privacy laws related to marketing and communications.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet multiple deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Photography skills, including composition and editing.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Commitment to serving diverse student populations and stakeholders.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
  • Extended periods of sitting at a desk and computer.
  • Outdoor and indoor photography operations.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 kg.
  • Travel may be required.

The salary for this position is determined by the Collective Agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 4879.
