Geriatric Psychiatry Opportunity

We are seeking a part-time Geriatric Psychiatrist to join our team at Island Health. As a member of our Division of Geriatric Psychiatry, you will provide consultation to patients, families, primary care physicians, and healthcare professionals in various settings, including Acute Inpatient, Outpatient, and Residential Care.

Our innovative Island-wide Tertiary Geriatric Psychiatry program ensures the highest quality of care for complex patients. You will have the opportunity to expand your practice interests by providing consultation to remote areas on Vancouver Island through the NITAOP program.

Geriatric psychiatry services are provided as part of Seniors Mental Health, which offers exceptional quality services through integration of resources and a strong focus on educational support of clinicians, physicians, and other healthcare providers.

You will participate in clinical service, teaching, and ongoing program development as part of the Island-wide Dementia Strategy, including the newly-opened MINT clinic, conjointly with Geriatric Medicine. Participation in the NRGH General Psychiatry call rotation is a requirement of this position. Involvement in the Island Medical Program undergraduate and postgraduate teaching program is encouraged. A C. affiliated appointment and membership in the Division of Geriatric Psychiatry are available.

Office space, administrative support, telephone, fax, and email are provided by Island Health at no cost. Office space may be shared. If desired, any of our part-time positions can be combined with other available part-time positions to create a rewarding and diverse full-time Psychiatry practice.
