Position Overview:
Nativemaps is seeking a skilled Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialist with strong interpersonal abilities to support the creation of GIS products. In this role, you will collaborate with teams in Forestry, Geomatics, and Archaeology, as well as engage with government experts to develop, enhance, and maintain customized traditional land use data and software applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the production of digital maps and databases for internal use.
- Contribute to the design and development of geo-database and web-based GIS applications.
- Manage system operations and implement hardware/software upgrades.
- Address technical GIS information requests and provide guidance and training to junior staff and users.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of land use fundamentals and ecosystems, along with experience in GPS data collection and applications. Proficiency in commercial GIS software such as ArcGIS, ArcInfo, ArcView, FME, and CADD applications is essential.
Personal Attributes:
The successful applicant will be culturally aware, self-driven, meticulous, and organized, capable of multitasking in a dynamic environment with minimal oversight. The ability to work independently and collaboratively with both technical and administrative teams is crucial.
Educational Background:
A GIS Certificate, combined with substantial experience in GIS software and GPS data collection, is typically required for this position.
