Agnico Eagle is seeking a highly skilled Rock Mechanics Engineer to join our Technical Services Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise in rock mechanics studies to support various projects and mining operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, manage, collect, and analyze characterization data of the rock mass to ensure the stability and safety of underground and surface works.
  • Develop and use geomechanical analysis tools and numerical modeling to evaluate structure stability and optimize design.
  • Participate in underground and open pit excavation design projects, conducting analyses of excavation support systems and pit walls stability.
  • Support divisions and project managers in matters related to rock mechanics, working with a multidisciplinary team to coordinate design activities.
  • Write technical reports and travel to Agnico Eagle sites to provide technical support and produce visit reports.
  • Stay informed about technical improvements in rock mechanics and share knowledge with colleagues from technical services and mining operations.

Requirements:

  • University Degree in Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, or Civil Engineering.
  • Graduate degree with specialization in Rock Mechanics Engineering is considered an asset.
  • Valid driving license.
  • Member in good standing of a Canadian association of professional engineers (OIQ, PEO, or other provinces).
  • Minimum of five (5) to ten (10) years of relevant experience in design of underground excavations and open pit slopes, rock mechanics numerical modeling and analysis, description of core and/or geological mapping, field campaign and project management, ground control of underground and surface operations.
  • Knowledge of specialized software (Deswik, LeapFrog, AutoCAD, MAP3D, Rocscience suite, DataMine, FLAC, etc.).
  • Proficiency in the use of the English & French language as you will be working in collaboration with other Agnico Eagle sites where English is the primary language.
  • Fluency in Spanish is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of programming language (VB, Python, and other) or use of Power BI are considered an asset.
