About You and This Role

Dow presents an exciting opportunity for a Lead Controls and Instrumentation Engineer.

This position may contribute to Engineering initiatives for the Path2Zero program, aimed at establishing the first net-zero emissions site globally. The FS P2Z initiative is a pivotal component of Dow's Decarbonization strategy.

The Lead Controls and Instrumentation Engineer offers specialized technical guidance and solutions for project teams, operations, and maintenance. This role involves understanding and applying Most Effective Technology (MET), work processes, tools, and industry best practices within the engineering discipline. The Engineer will support both project teams and technical support groups, serving as an engineer on large projects or leading their discipline on smaller or intermediate projects. This position requires advanced conceptual and practical expertise in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

In the Engineering capacity:

  • Ensures that drawings and specifications are clear, meet business needs, and comply with all relevant codes and regulations.
  • Provides validation support for professional work products.
  • Ensures timely completion of reviews and that drawings and specifications are adhered to by fabricators, constructors, and maintenance contractors during inspections.

In the Project Lead capacity:

  • Acts as the leader within their discipline, accountable for project outcomes and the implementation of all relevant work processes and best practices.
  • Facilitates front-end loading to ensure clear scope definition and establishes plans and schedules for effective execution control.
  • Coordinates activities within their discipline and with other disciplines.
  • Oversees the completion of deliverables for estimating and reviews outputs to ensure accurate scope reflection.
  • Ensures deliverables meet project requirements, functioning as intended, on schedule, and within budget.
  • Leads the development of technical contract packages and supports their implementation.
  • Promotes value engineering and economic designs to ensure optimal value delivery to the business.
  • Utilizes and enforces the project change management program.
  • Ensures safety is prioritized in design.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering or relevant military experience at or above Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class or Sergeant ranking. A degree in Instrumentation, Controls, or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with APEGA (P. Eng).
  • Must have the legal ability to work in Canada; no visa sponsorship or support is available for this position.
