We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team at BFL Construction Inc. As a Carpenter, you will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to the construction and maintenance of buildings and other structures.
Key Responsibilities- Construction and Maintenance: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements. Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools. Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials.
- Building Foundations: Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
- Installation and Repair: Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware. Maintain, repair, and renovate residences and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial plants, and other establishments.
- Support for Newcomers and Refugees: Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports newcomers and/or refugees. Assist with immediate settlement needs, such as housing, transportation, storage, childcare, and winter clothing. Support social and labour market integration, including facilitating access to community resources, language training, and skills training.
- Support for Youths: Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports youth employment. Offer on-the-job training tailored to youth. Provide mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for youth.
- Support for Veterans: Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports Veterans. Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for Veterans. Provide awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for Veterans.
- Support for Indigenous People: Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports Indigenous people. Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for Indigenous workers. Develop and maintain relationships with indigenous communities, indigenous-owned businesses, and organizations.
- Support for Mature Workers: Apply hiring policies that discourage age discrimination. Provide staff with awareness training to create a welcoming work environment for mature workers. Offer mentorship, coaching, and/or networking opportunities for mature workers.
- Support for Visible Minorities: Participate in a government or community program or initiative that supports members of visible minorities. Apply hiring policies that discourage discrimination against members of visible minorities. Offer mentorship programs that pair members of visible minorities with experienced employees.
- Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
- Experience: 2 years to less than 3 years of experience in a related field.
- Physical Capabilities: Bending, crouching, kneeling. Combination of sitting, standing, walking.
