About the Role

The Commissioner of Community Development will be responsible for leading the organization to achieve our strategic plan in collaboration with the Executive Leadership Team. This will involve providing strategic leadership to help our community achieve its vision to be a vibrant and livable place for all.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in planning and development, with experience in leading large teams and managing complex budgets. They will be a registered planner and have a proven track record of success in municipal government.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of land in accordance with the Livable Oakville Official Plan
  • Provide strategic leadership to help our community achieve its vision
  • Manage sensitive and controversial issues with media, ratepayers, and the community
  • Foster collaborative relationships with all stakeholders
  • Encourage the community to be active and engaged in the municipality's growth and development
