About the Role

MNP LLP is seeking a highly skilled Senior Public Affairs Manager to join our National Public Affairs team in Ontario. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in building relationships with key government, public service, and MNP internal stakeholders to enhance communication and awareness of MNP's service offerings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Public Affairs Analysis: Provide regular analysis and insights to identify political, legislative, and regulatory trends that impact our firm or clients.
  • Portfolio Expertise: Develop portfolio expertise within the PA group as it relates to the Ontario and Eastern Canada market place.
  • Thought Leadership: Support firm leadership in identifying profile opportunities and supporting thought leadership pieces and consideration submissions to government.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with lobbyists acts.
  • Business Development: Support Public Sector Business Development planning across the regions.
  • Opportunity Identification: Proactive opportunity identification translating of insights into solutions.
  • Business Intelligence: Business intelligence, trend analysis, and research.
  • Client Engagement: Facilitate collaboration with client engagement teams prior to commencement of client work to discuss roles and responsibilities, risk areas and project metrics.
  • Client Needs: Think strategically about client needs by quickly gaining an understanding of their business, their organization, operating environment and key risks.
  • Relationship Building: Identify ways to maximize the relationship with clients and deliver added value.
  • Quality Control: Maintain high quality control by reviewing work done from other team members for accuracy and completeness; provide feedback to team members.
  • Industry Knowledge: Develop a thorough understanding of MNP's services, businesses and industry.
  • Community Engagement: Raise awareness of MNP through discussions at community events including client and company sponsored functions.
  • Network Development: Develop and maintain a network with the public sector and broader community to support and identify business development opportunities.
  • Technical Knowledge: Assist in and support ongoing improvements in project methods and development of technical knowledge.
  • Team Collaboration: Engage regularly with the national public affairs team to share intelligence, leading practices, opportunities, and leads.
  • Presentation Development: Assist in promotion of MNP's services through the support and development of presentations, articles, workshops or participating in community activities.
  • Mentorship: Mentor, motivate and coach team members towards professional and personal development by setting clear expectations, providing feedback and addressing performance issues promptly.
  • Flexibility: Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary.
Requirements
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in business, economics, public policy or political science or other related field.
  • Experience: 7 to 10 years of senior political (e.g. Director of policy or Chief of Staff type roles), government experience in a Provincial or Federal Government Environment and/or Government relations experience.
  • Skills: Experience in Public Affairs analysis, solution development, client communications, decision making, documentation, managing expectations and team leadership.
  • Assets: Experience in business development and market intelligence is considered an asset.
