Your Opportunity:

Alberta Health Services (AHS) is looking for a dedicated professional to take on a pivotal role as the Operations Supervisor for our Emergency Medical Services (EMS) in Calgary. This essential leadership position is accountable for guiding, directing, and organizing EMS operations within the Calgary Zone. As a key figure in our department, you will be responsible for making critical operational decisions and leading a team of over 20 Advanced Care Paramedics, Primary Care Paramedics, and Emergency Medical Responders.

In these challenging times, we seek a resilient leader who excels in navigating change and innovation. You will be instrumental in developing creative solutions and managing vital resources in our operational landscape. Your ability to cultivate partnerships with public agencies, government bodies, and various stakeholders will be crucial in achieving our organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily leadership and direction for EMS activities, ensuring alignment with AHS's vision and mission.
  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare professionals, first responders, and law enforcement agencies.
  • Oversee daily operational management of pre-hospital care and patient transport services.
  • Plan and allocate resources effectively to meet service delivery needs.
  • Promote innovative practices and quality improvements in service provision.
  • Ensure safety performance and develop strategies to mitigate work-related incidents.
  • Communicate effectively with staff regarding departmental operations and updates.
  • Conduct performance evaluations to maintain high standards of patient care and service delivery.

Required Qualifications:

Additional Required Qualifications:

Valid Alberta Class 4 Operators License with no more than 6 demerits. Equivalent education and experience may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

Diploma or degree in healthcare administration, business, or leadership. Proven track record of professional development and the ability to manage change effectively. Strong communication, organizational, and client-focused skills, with a demonstrated ability to foster partnerships in a unionized environment.
