Position Summary
The Millwright Apprentice will be responsible for executing the following duties and responsibilities:
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure personal and team safety by adhering to organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory standards for a secure working environment.
- Effectively communicate through oral and written instructions; interpret technical literature and manufacturer specifications; prepare maintenance and job reports in accordance with company standards; utilize computer and job maintenance software for specific tasks.
- Analyze and interpret drawings and schematics; understand manufacturer manuals, specifications, and drawing symbols.
- Utilize hand and power tools proficiently.
- Set up and operate machine tools accurately.
- Employ and maintain precision measuring instruments.
- Select and utilize appropriate materials and fasteners.
- Choose and apply lubricants and greases tailored for specific applications.
- Responsible for assembling, erecting, positioning, and dismantling scaffolding, lifting devices, and elevating platforms.
- Plan lifts and perform calculations using load charts; select and utilize the correct rigging and hoisting equipment; inspect and maintain rigging and hoisting apparatus; employ hand and radio signals.
- Install and maintain material handling systems effectively.
- Install and maintain power transmission systems.
- Install and maintain hydrodynamic and hydrostatic pumps.
- Commission and maintain prime movers and machinery.
- Set up and operate welding equipment competently.
- Identify and apply bearing materials, fits, and tolerances accurately.
- Install single and multi-stage fan and blower systems.
- Install and maintain pneumatic systems.
- Install and maintain hydraulic systems.
- Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent educational background.
- Achievement of academic standards as outlined by trade regulations is considered an asset.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is advantageous.
- Understanding of workplace safety and safe lifting and handling protocols.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, ensuring daily tasks are completed as scheduled.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
- Capacity to meet the physical demands of the role, including heavy lifting, prolonged standing, and working in varying temperature conditions.
- Commitment to adhere to apprenticeship standards.
