Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Engineer to join our team at Cpus Engineering Staffing Solutions Inc. in a key role that requires expertise in the design, development, and operation of nuclear facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical evaluations and advice to support the commissioning, operation, and maintenance of facilities.
  • Solve complex problems and coordinate technical work as required.
  • Assess and evaluate potential problems and opportunities in assigned areas and/or systems.
  • Develop and recommend solutions, including cost justification and financial evaluations.
  • Prepare and submit documentation for approval, including equipment specifications, engineering calculations, and operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with other departments and organizations to arrange for tests and provide documentation.
  • Stay up-to-date with new developments in the field and incorporate them into department equipment or operation.
  • Develop and maintain operating and other specified department divisional procedures.
  • Prepare reports to provide information and data in answer to external requests or for historical purposes.
  • Initiate studies or investigations where opportunities for improvement are apparent.
Requirements
  • Requires a knowledge of physics, chemistry, metallurgy, mathematics, electricity, engineering, and economics to technically understand the operation of the facility.
  • Requires advanced knowledge of one or more of these subjects to evaluate and propose improvements to processes, equipment, and systems or to unit safety, reliability, and performance.
  • Requires a knowledge of English in order to prepare clear and concise reports and recommendations both verbally and in writing.
  • Requires training and experience in the design, development, or operation of a nuclear facility or in the development, manufacture, or production of nuclear materials or components.
  • Requires experience to solve problems, provide advice and guidance, initiate developmental studies, and make recommendations during the design, commissioning, and operation of a nuclear facility.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Fire Protection, engineering, and economics to technically understand the operation of the facility is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Fire Hazard Assessment, Fire Safe Showdown Assessment, National Building Code of Canada, National Fire Code of Canada, and CSA N293/N393 is considered an asset to evaluate and propose improvements to Fire Protection processes, equipment, and systems in OPG Nuclear Stations and Facilities.
